Is there something i'm missing about why silicone isn't used? it seems like the obvious choice to me. i could see the argument of them not screwing in as securely like with silicone, but take this: attach the silicone head to the bar (unremovable), and have an acryllic bar and ball end.

other than for looks, why isn't it more common for bars (especially, again, uniquely shaped or designed ones) to be completely acryllic? why aren't silicone ones a thing at all? not only would it be better for dental health, but harder plastics and metal genuinely make my mouth sore nowadays since i've gotten used to acryllic jewelry. why couldn't they have rounded that out too?Īnother thing is material. i have a star that's honestly pretty large and all of the points are perfectly comfortable due to how rounded they are, its just the flat edge on the bottom of it that scrapes against stuff when i try to eat. i have a few that are ALMOST comfortable 24/7, it's literally just a design flaw where they didn't round certain edges that they definitely could've. the thing is though, i know it can't be completely impossible to design one that is comfortable AND an interesting shape (heart, star, etc.). Sure, that's inevitable with most shapes you might stick on a tongue bar, since it's such a sensitive area. i wear it for comfort but that's the main issue: why is it that any other shape is actively uncomfortable?

there's plenty of colorful variants of the standard barbell in acryllic and metal, but if i'm honest, i'm not the biggest fan of just the standard ball end. I have the standard center tongue piercing. Partial rant, partially asking if anyone knows good shops for tongue bars
