La Pareja del Terror was expected to get their revenge in the coming months, but, sadly, tragedy struck soon after, when Art Barr was found dead in his hotel on November 23rd, 1994, at age 28. Although Guerrero & the Love Machine fought hard, they lost the match, leading to both their heads being shaved. At When Worlds Collide, the two teams met one more time, in a "Masks vs. Guerrero & the Love Machine, as a wonderful tag-team, formed the heart of Los Gringos Locos, feuding heavily with del Santo & Octagon, among others. He teamed with the Great Sasuke in the '94 Super Grade Tag-Team League in October '94, beating Dean Malenko & Tokimitsu Ishizawa in the semi-finals, but falling in the finals to Shinjiro Ohtani & Wild Pegasus. At one point, Guerrero earned the honor of becoming the Black Tiger, the masked arch-nemesis of the hugely-popular Tiger Mask.

Throughout '93 and into '94, Guerrero was also regularly traveling overseas, usually wrestling in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he faced competition from many future stars, including Dean Malenko, Wild Pegasus (Chris Benoit), Jushin Thunder Liger, and others. Soon, they were joined by Konnan, the Black Cat, Madonna's Boyfriend (Louie Spicolli), and others, creating one of the "ancestors" of the nWo, Los Gringos Locos (the Crazy Americans). Eddie and the Love Machine even held the AAA/IWC Tag-Team Belts for a time in 1993. This soon formed the core for one of the AAA's most notorious groupings. But Eddie soon turned on del Santo and instead joined with the Love Machine (Art Barr) to form La Pareja del Terror (Pair of Terror). It was a unique pairing, as Gory Guerrero had teamed with El Santo in the '50s. He soon teamed with El Hijo del Santo (another second-generation wrestler) as La Pareja Atomica (The Atomic Pair). Soon after coming to AAA, Eddie became himself again, removing the mask. Under this gimmick, Guerrero continued to grow as a pro wrestler, earning the respect of other federations, including the newly-established fed, Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion, where Mascara Magica would jump soon after. Around this time, Eddie decided to try a new persona, as he donned a mask and became Mascara Magica, or the Magic Mask. Again, this title reign did not last, as Guerrero was beaten by Piloto Suicida in August '92. After this, Eddie continued to hone his craft in the WWA, and managed to win the WWA World Welterweight Title in 1992, his first singles gold. They lost the belts to the American Mercenaries (Louie Spicolli, Bill Anderson, & Tim Patterson) a few months later in July '89. For years, Eddie wrestled with his brothers in tag-team matches, growing in experience.Įddie first had success in the World Wrestling Association, teaming with his brothers Chavo Sr & Mando to win the WWA World Trios Titles in 1989. But Eddie knew where his true calling was, as he began wrestling professionally in 1987 in EMLL (also known as CMLL). He also tried becoming an amateur wrestler, spending time on the wrestling team at the University of New Mexico with a scholarship. As Eddie grew up, he began learning how things worked, hanging around various organizations with his brothers. They became so popular that they were asked to stop wrestling, since people weren't going to the concession stands during the breaks to spend money. As for Eddie, starting at age 7, he began wrestling his nephew, Chavo Guerrero Jr (age 4), during intermission at various events. His father, Gory Guerrero, was a legend in his home country, while his brothers, Chavo Sr, Hector, and Mando Guerrero, all had great success. Guerrero grew up across the border in Mexico, where his family, the Guerreros, had some of the greatest wrestlers around. There's no doubt that Eddie Guerrero will always be remembered as a superstar of the squared circle. It didn't matter where Guerrero was, because he always knew exactly what the fans wanted, and was always estatic to be the one there to give it to them.
